Sunneva Ása Weisshappel (b. 1989) graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Fine Arts from the Icelandic Academy of the Arts in spring 2013. In the same year she founded and managed Algera Studio, a workshop, art gallery and residency in Reykjavík.
Sunneva has over 20 years of classical and contemporary dance training. Her background furthermore consists of acting, singing and piano. She is an art director and mainly works with installation, photography, performance, acting and video art. In the year 2013 Sunneva received the Icelandic Music Award for album cover of the year. Sunneva has directed and worked on several music videos, her work in that field has been nominated for awards both in Iceland and other places in Europe.
In 2016 Sunneva designed costumes and prosthetic makeup for the theatre piece Njála, which was staged in the Reykjavik city Theatre and Mutter Courage in Hessisches Staatstheater Wiesbaden. She has also worked on costumes in the Staatsschauspiel Dresden for Othello, Hamlet in Staatstheater Hannover and in the Staatstheater Karlsruhe for both the theatre play Faust and opera Siegfried by Wagner.
