Matthias Mohr (b. 1980) has his background in Theatre Science, which he studied at the Justus-Liebig-Universität in Gießen from 2003 to 2009. He works in the crossing between music, sound art and installations. Mohr has realized several audio visual installations, among them Sana’a – City of Light at the German and French embassy in Yemen, and Bypass, a scenic project with Heiner Goebbels. He has also initiated several scenic concerts and music theater projects, for example at the Darmstadt International Summer Course for New Music, with ensembles such as Ensemble Modern.
Mohr also composes music for stage and has done sound design for countless theater productions and installations, among them the award winning La Conquete de Mexique. In 2007, Mohr began his collaboration with Heiner Goebbels in the framework of the celebrated production Stifters Dinge. He has later done video and light design for Goebbels, and has served as an artistic assistant and dramaturg on several productions, such as Delusion of the Fury by Harry Partch and Europeas 1 & 2 by John Cage. In 2011, Mohr was the head dramaturg and a part of the artistic team for the Ruhrtriennale. At Disko Arts Festival, he represents PACT Zollverein, where he today works as a dramaturg.
