Renowned chef Inunnguaq Hegelund was born in Paamiut, a small town on the southwestern coast of Greenland. He became a familiar name in the culinary scene from his acclaimed menus at Hotel Arctic in Ilulissat, the town where he built his career. Inunnguaq’s signature trait is his use of local ingredients (which are limited in the harsh climate), and his relentless aim to reclaim Greenlands national cuisine.
Inunnguaq has been awarded Greenland Chef of the Year no less than three times, and has been featured in international media like The Guardian, Portland Press Herald and Travel + Leisure. For the past two years, he has been working as a freelance chef, in Greenland and abroad. During Disko Arts Festival, Inunnguaq will be culinary artist in residence.
