EN Why Greenland?
Disko Arts Festival springs out of Far North, a network and residency established in Oqaatsut in 2012. The core mission was – and still is – to bring together emerging international and Greenlandic artists. Disko Arts Festival is a local festival with an international profile, and the artistic programming is tailored for our Disko Bay audience.
When will the program be released?
The participating artists and public program will be announced in good time before the festival. All Disko Arts Festival events in Greenland are free of charge and open to everyone.
Travelling to Disko Arts Festival from abroad
Air Iceland Connect and Air Greenland fly to Ilulissat from Reykjavik and Copenhagen. From Ilulissat, you can reach Oqaatsut by boat or foot. Disko Arts Festival takes place during the tourist high season, and accommodation is usually fully booked in the area far in advance, so plan ahead! Camping is an option: Please e-mail us directly.
We welcome artistic proposals, but when it’s a non-Greenlandic project, we ask that you specify why it should be performed in Disko Bay. Due to the limited number of artists we are able to bring we unfortunately have to reject most offers.
We welcome festival volunteers from Greenland and beyond, but cannot provide travel, accommodation or food. If you’re in the area and would like to contribute, or if you would like to get involved in some other way, get in touch!
