Anna Rún Tryggvadóttir is a visual artist, but has worked on various projects in theaters across Europe for the past 8 years. She studied Visual Arts in Iceland and Montreal Canada. She is currently working as a Visual Artist in Iceland, Canada and Berlin.
The installations and drawings of Tryggvadóttir are devoted to processes where mechanical or manual systems produce and maintain movement and transformations of different materials. Where chemical interaction and transformation leave traces and documents. The time of the process itself gets cast into the work at a different pace, often slower than the eye can comprehend.
The works are autonomous to an extent, exposing the natural behavior of the materials and drawing those features into being. The stage is set by the artists herself but the narrative of the material is unpredictable. The work operates in a cyclical regeneration of construction and deconstruction, in the constant shift oftransformation.
